Hirschhorn‘s old town is located directly on the Neckar and is characterized by narrow alleyways, half-timbered houses and the mighty castle overlooking the town.
The cozy town of Hirschhorn lies in the idyllic Odenwald Neckar Valley. The interesting old town has relatively well-preserved town fortifications. Flood marks can be found at the Fischertor gate. In 1651, the Neckar even entered the town through the embrasures in the walls. The central gate from 1391 now serves as the steeple of the market church. Wall houses can be found in the wall facing the Neckar. They were built due to a lack of space. Beautiful half-timbered houses, winding alleyways in the historic old town and walking along historical paths delight countless visitors every year.
Halfway between Hirschhorn Castle and the town is the former Carmelite monastery with its remarkable Gothic church.
Public guided tours of the old town from June to September every Saturday at 10:00 am (except 1st Saturday in Sept.). Meeting point at the Hirschhorn Tourist Information Office. Guided tour of the old town
