An extraordinary, almost bizarre collection of exhibits surprises the visitor on this tour in the Langbein Museum.

During his lifetime, Hirschhorn innkeeper Carl Langbein was well-known for his passion for collecting. On a trip to Germany, the American writer Mark Twain was impressed with Langbein‘s collection of relics and natural curiosities on display at the Zum Naturalisten inn. Today this idiosyncratic collection of secular and sacred objects of furniture, animals and minerals has lost none of its power to surprise. The new museum juxtaposes the historic relics with modern times and draws unexpected connections between seemingly disparate objects.
