The Eberstadt stalactite cave is a worthwhile excursion destination for the whole family at any time of year.

The impressive Eberstadt stalactite cave is located in the south-eastern Odenwald, at the transition to the Bauland. It is estimated to be between one and two million years old. The accessible part meanders 600 meters through distinctive shell limestone formations and is suitable for baby carriages and disabled visitors .

Rich stalactite decorations, slender and conical stalagmites and stalactites, sinter flags, sinter terraces and crystals adorn the cave walls and ceilings. Many stalactite formations have their own names. The "White Lady of Eberstadt" walks around and the "Elephant‘s Trunk" searches for water. The "Wedding Cake" is one of the most beautiful stalactite formations in Europe.

The Cave Worlds Visitor Center presents the fascinating time of the shell limestone sea in a multimedia presentation that is easy to understand. Here you can find additional information about the Eberstadt caves. A film shows impressive details about the non-accessible sections of the cave system.

The geological nature trail and a nature trail are located in the immediate vicinity of the cave. The Seeterrasse, the popular excursion restaurant directly on the cave lake, invites you to linger and enjoy a refreshment.

From Heilbronn / Stuttgart
A 81 exit Osterburken (No. 6), always in the direction of "Buchen", Bofsheim, Eberstadt

From the direction of Würzburg
A 81 exit Tauberbischofsheim (No. 3), direction Buchen, Tauberbischofsheim, Walldürn, Buchen, exit "Buchen Ost", follow the signs to "Tropfsteinhöhle", Eberstadt.

From the direction of Heidelberg / Mannheim
Neckartal, Eberbach, Mudau - B 27 - exit "Buchen Ost", follow the signs to "Tropfsteinhöhle", Eberstadt.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
From the Ludwigshafen, Mannheim, Heidelberg area, take the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn to Seckach station, then continue with the Westfrankenbahn either to Bödigheim station (from there a hiking trail of approx. 2.5 km to the cave is signposted) or to Buchen. During school terms in Baden-Württemberg, bus route no. 848 runs to and from the cave from Monday to Friday.

At weekends from May to September there is a bus from Buchen station on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, with the outward journey at 10.45 and the return journey at 13.30.
