Experience history: Odenwald Limes & UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes

The Limes as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the relationship between the Romans and Germanic tribes is the theme in Osterburken. The Roman Museum presents finds from Osterburken and the region and provides information about archaeology, cultural history on both sides of the Roman border and religion.

Highlights include the relief of Mithras, the god of light, and the temple district of the beneficiarii. The wellness program of the population at the Limes can be recreated in the preserved baths. The museum also offers various themed tours for groups and school classes.

Dressed in the typical costumes of the Romans and Germanic tribes, visitors embark on a journey through time during which the knowledge of the museum guides is conveyed in a fun way.
