Sculpture cycle path

In scenic surroundings, the 77 km long sculpture cycle path connects the region‘s tourist destinations on two "wings", creating a unique experience of art and nature. This cycle route itself becomes an original exhibition route of contemporary sculptures and representations.

The participation of artists from three art academies in Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Halle (Saale) gives this cycle route its special charm. A total of 25 sculptures were created by the artists and installed along the cycle path.

The project was supported by the state of Baden-Württemberg and the European Union. Information boards draw attention to the cultural treasures of the region and help cyclists to enjoy a very special experience. They include, for example, the famous Roman Museum on the Limes and St. Kilian‘s Church in Osterburken with its "World of Images in Concrete" designed by Emil Wachter, the 13th century Mauritius Church in Hemsbach with its valuable wall paintings, the impressive works of art created by Klaus Ringwald and Emil Wachter in the Seckach-Klinge children‘s and youth village and the sculpture park also created there by the artist couple Wagner.
