Castles and palaces line the route. Green meadows, tranquil forests, a lake and the sound of the Neckar‘s waves make for an enjoyable hike.

The silhouette of what was once the largest imperial palace north of the Alps can be seen from afar. The tour starts at the only neo-Gothic railroad station in southern Germany and initially leads downstream along the Neckar grove. Shortly after the mineral outdoor pool with its 10 m tower, the route climbs a little in the forest.

You can enjoy the magnificent view of castles as you cross meadows and fields. After descending to the village of Heinsheim, you can take a detour to the mountain chapel or the Jewish cemetery.

On the way back through the Fünf-Mühlental valley with its game reserve and barbecue area, hikers pass the Bad Rappenau golf course. The trail continues via Zimmerhof, Hohenstadt and the Fleckinger Mühle mill with refreshment stops along the way. Through the historic old town, past various museums and restaurants, the trail markings point back to the train station.
