The history of the airfield is explained at 9 information stations at historical sites.

From the Kneipp facility, the trail runs parallel to the former Walldürn - Hardheim railroad line, past a small wayside chapel and into the forest. For a while, you follow the Lochbach stream and pass the Brunnenstube, which was built in 1911. At the Buchwaldsbrücke bridge, from which a branch line was built to the secret airport, the path turns off and follows the former railroad line for approx. 1.5 km to the place in the forest where an ammunition depot was set up.

After the ammunition depot, the trail leads out of the forest and initially follows an idyllic path along the edge of the forest, before taking a forest path in a north-easterly loop around the airfield area to the former turning area at the old ammunition bunkers. The route continues on the gravel forest path along the "yellow 7" to the hamlet of Schlempertshof.

The hiking trail turns southeast at Schlempertshof and runs along the edge of the airfield, which was located in the triangle between Dornberg, Schlempertshof and Höpfingen. From the airfield, the hike leads along agricultural paths through meadows and fields past old orchards back to the starting point in Höpfingen.

A 81, Ausfahrt Tauberbischofsheim, weiter auf der B 27 Richtung Höpfingen. Von Miltenberg über die B 47 bis Walldürn, dann auf die B 27 bis Höpfingen

Bahnanschluss bis Walldürn; Von Walldürn oder Buchen mit der Buslinie 841/843 nach Höpfingen, Haltestelle Rathaus.
