Themed hiking trail through the idyllic Erfatal valley, past historic mills or mill sites.

The tour starts at the parking area in the center of Hardheim. From there, cross the B27 and follow Inselgasse, Lange Gasse and Hinterm Dorf until you reach the first mill. The Steinemühle is an active flour mill and has been family-owned for over 330 years. Following the path, you will next pass the oil mill, where the old water wheel and the mill canal are reminders of the past.

The Mühlenweg now runs west of the Erfa, past the Bücholdswiesensee (beaver reserve), until you reach the Wohlfahrtsmühle. You can stop for a bite to eat at the mill, which is now a hotel and restaurant. From here, follow the HW 24 in the direction of Höpfingen. Keep left at the next major crossroads. On the so-called cherry trail, you walk along orchards and enjoy wonderful views of the Lower Erfa Valley.

Behind the Josefskapelle chapel, the path leads you back to Hardheim. Among other things, the church of St. Alban, also known as the "Erftaldom", is worth seeing here. The entire Hardheim Mill Trail is around 14 km long and leads from Erfeld to the Schächerstein. If you prefer to travel by bike, you can also cycle the Erftal-Mühlen-Radweg, which runs 40 km from Buch to Bürgstadt.
