You cycle around the southern part of the beautiful Staufer town of Eberbach for around 34 kilometers - with great views and unforgettable nature experiences.

The circular route starts and ends at Neuer Markt. It is described here in an anti-clockwise direction - but you can just as easily ride it in the other direction, as it is signposted in both directions.

From the lower end of Neuer Markt, turn left, ride past the Evangelical Church of St. Michael in an easterly direction and take Brückenstraße to the Neckar Bridge, which you cross. At the southern end, turn left and shortly afterwards turn sharp left again at the rowing house of the Eberbach rowing club onto the Neckar Valley cycle path towards Heidelberg. Now follow the Alte Pleutersbacher Straße past sports and leisure facilities. On the way, you will also discover the Eberbach medicinal herb garden, which is free to visit in summer.

Continue along the Neckar Valley cycle path to Pleutersbach. There, take the first left onto Neckargasse - steeply uphill. After crossing the L595, cycle further uphill along the Triebweg. At the end of the path, follow the "Yellow 2" markings to the left and continue uphill. At an elevated crossing point, take the "Yellow 1" heading north. Pass the Karl-Sohns-Hütte and enjoy a wonderful view of the Neckar valley. The trail circles the lower Bocksbergkopf, and in good weather you have a beautiful view of the Gammelsbach valley - with the ruins of Freienstein Castle in the distance. At the northernmost point of the circular route, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the town of Eberbach.

From here, continue to the Wimmersbacher Steige hiking parking lot. Take the L590 downhill for a short distance before turning right again at the Marienhöhe hiking parking lot onto the Marienhöhen main trail ("Gelbes N" or "Gelbe 1"). The trail leads gently uphill for around 1.2 km to the Marienhöhe with its idyllic refuge. Below you will find a forest sofa that invites you to take a break with a view.

Leave the Marienhöhenhütte on your right and follow the main path ("Gelbe 2" or "Gelbe 3"). After about 800 meters you will reach a crossroads with three tall spruce trees, turn right here and follow the path for about 3 kilometers. Then turn left past the Heiligkreuz church to the Steinernes Kreuz hiking parking lot. Keep left there and then left again at the next fork. Then take the next sharp right downhill, then left downhill at the next clearing. Follow the path straight ahead, always downhill. After crossing the Rockenau quarry, you will reach the Eberbach district of Rockenau above the sports field. From here, take Ledelsweg downhill, then turn right at the first crossroads into Hebrotsweg and follow the road "Im Sand" down to the K4112 (Rockenauer Straße).

Follow Rockenauer Straße southwards until you reach the Rockenau barrage, which you cross. After about 250 meters, follow the B37 to the left before turning right. At the second opportunity, turn left and ride up the serpentine Lautenbacher Hauptweg. At the fourth bend (a left-hand bend), the path becomes the Matzenbergweg, marked with a "Yellow V". Follow this until you reach the Neugereut/Hohrain plateau near Unterdielbach.

Here you turn left onto the agricultural road, ride down to the lowest point at Grenzweg, then left and immediately right again onto a meadow path. Turn left at the end and continue downhill. On the paved road you reach the barrier of the Holdergrund hiking parking lot. Turn left uphill and left again at the next fork. Follow the well-maintained path to the hairpin bend above the Breitenstein hiking parking lot. From here, take the road downhill back to Eberbach town center.

Please note: the route can be ridden in both directions. The number of kilometers is doubled accordingly.
