The German Limes Cycle Route takes you past the most important Roman stations on the Upper German-Rhaetian Limes between the Rhine and Danube and crosses the Odenwald over a distance of around 60 kilometers.

"Cycle in the footsteps of the Romans" - you can make exciting discoveries under this motto. The Upper German-Rhaetian Limes is one of the most outstanding archaeological monuments in Central Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Along the way, you will come across reconstructed or preserved Roman sights such as forts and bathing facilities, as well as Limes towers with parts of the Roman border fortifications, ramparts, ditches, walls and palisades. In addition, impressive museums about the Roman past, protective structures over Roman ruins and archaeological parks await you.

Over a distance of around 60 kilometers, the German Limes Cycle Route takes you through the vacation region and past important Roman stations.

The landscape is varied and diverse, so there is something for every fitness level and every taste. The section between Obernburg and Jagsthausen in particular - from the Main to the Jagst - offers you a whole range of Roman evidence. Annual events also underline the great importance of the Romans in this region.

Cycling tip:
Visit the Roman Museum in Osterburken, a branch museum of the Baden-Württemberg Archaeological State Museum on the Limes UNESCO World Heritage Site.
