The 37 km long Salt & Brine Cycle Path is reminiscent of the extraction of salt and brine and takes you along the Neckar and through the Fünfmühlental valley - always accompanied by an idyllic and romantic backdrop.

Salt has been extracted from brine in the central Neckar region for more than 2000 years. The "white gold" was discovered in Bad Friedrichshall-Jagstfeld in 1816. In Bad Rappenau and Bad Wimpfen, you can still take a cure in the warm brine and relax your body and soul. The 37 km long Salt & Brine Cycle Path is a reminder of this tradition and takes you along the Neckar and through the romantic Fünfmühlental valley - an idyllic backdrop for your cycle tour.

Your route takes you via Bad Friedrichshall, Offenau, Gundelsheim, Haßmersheim-Neckarmühlbach, Siegelsbach, Bad Rappenau and Bad Wimpfen. Various leisure facilities invite you to visit along the way. Along the route, you will also find 15 information boards with exciting explanations about the history of the "white gold" - from geology and the extraction of raw materials to mining.

A shaft entrance to the visitor salt mine in Bad Friedrichshall-Kochendorf is particularly impressive. Or treat yourself to a break in the indoor brine pools in Bad Rappenau and Bad Wimpfen, where you can experience salt and brine up close. Along the way, you will discover historic buildings and facilities such as the brine drilling rig with treadwheel, drilling tower and drill house at Einsiedelwald in Bad Rappenau. And in the Reichsstädtisches Museum in Bad Wimpfen, it‘s worth taking a look in the "Salinen-Zimmer". The Salt & Brine Cycle Path is also connected to the Neckar Valley Cycle Path and the Kocher-Jagst Cycle Path - perfect for even more cycling tour variety.

Cycling tip:
Take a break in the graduation house in the former state garden show grounds in Bad Rappenau - there you can take a deep breath and recharge your batteries for the rest of the Salt & Brine Cycle Path.
